Sometime back we had to take care of our friend's cat while they went on vacation to Rome. I was a bit apprehensive as my kids never had any pets. I am more of a dog person and have never had any cats in my life but in the end it turned out ok. The cat actually liked me would come purring and rubbing her side on my legs.
Moreover it was toilet trained and really well behaved. All I had to do was clean the litter and feed her.
My kids loved the cat and my son was fascinated but he probably thought it was a moving teddy bear and tried to hug it and the cat never came near him after that. Ultimately our friends came back and she went back with them.
It was a nice experience but would I ever keep a cat.Not right now but maybe in the future when we have a bigger house and the kids are big enough to clean the litter ;-)
Hey! Get off my table.

Rhymes
My daughter is learning rhymes at school and came up with one a few days ago. She's been pestering me to put it up on my blog.
I foresee that she's going to have her own blog soon.
Anyway here's her poem called honey
I asked her "do what?"
"Eat honey!" she replied.
And she wanted it in Pink. She's really happy now.

Visit to the Falkirk Wheel
More pictures from our trip to Edinburgh some time back.
One of our friends recommended that we visit the Falkirk wheel near Edinburgh. Driving, it took us nearly 50 minutes to get there from Edinburgh. It is a great engineering feat connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal and is named after the nearby town.
View of the wheel
We got into the boat which was then moved to the docking-pit. We were then slowly lifted to the union canal on the top.
Celtic inspired design
Inside the boat
The wheel was built by Butterly engineering which have now sadly gone out of business like so many companies in the UK.
It was a short ride on the canal and back down again to the basin and my daughter thought it was boring. She was more excited playing at the small playground near the wheel.

Great places for a day out with the family in the Midlands
A lot of people seem to think that the midlands of the UK is a boring place. they couldn't have been more wrong. There are so many amazing places here in Coventry and nearby areas which is great for a day out with the family.
The first thing we noticed was this building that looked like a balloon. It actually is - the outer walls of the semi-transparent tower is clad with inflated ETFE layers.
Filled with interactive exhibits, the place is really educational and entertaining at the same time.
I guess the highlight of the show was the animated movie projected into the circular dome of the theatre which short of enveloped you and made you feel like you were travelling in space.
We really enjoyed the trip and I recommend the place to anyone with school going kids.

- Transport Museum - Totally free of charge. Learn how Coventry was once the centre of the British auto industry.
- Warwick Castle - Going back in time to the medieval ages
- Coombe Country park - Wide open spaces, ideal for a picnic.
- Twycross zoo - nearest zoo to us.
- West Midlands Safari Park - Feed the animals as they come to your car.
- Alton Towers - the rides said to be better than Disney Land Paris.
- Cadbury World - Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate
- National Space Centre

Trip to London Zoo
This was my second trip to the London Zoo. The first time was in 1982 on a school trip, along with my parents and sisters. That was around 26 years ago.
This was my son's first trip to a zoo and for his cousin, Noah as well.
The zoo's just 1.8 miles away from my sister-in-laws house and driving there took only a couple of minutes. We made the mistake of not buying the tickets at the car park and had to stand in a massive queue. Fortunately they opened up few other counters and we were in soon.
High five
I realise the Zoo is run by the Zoological Society of London, a charitable organisation but the tickets were really costly (£ 15.50 for adults and £12.50 for children above 3). Most of the animals were inside because of the cold and We didn't get to see the lions or the tapirs amongst others. I felt like we didn't get our moneys worth.
The pink girl
Any way the kids enjoyed the trip. The highlight of the trip were the Gorillas who put on a show. However, my son liked the aquarium the most. He was fascinated with the colourful fishes.

Miss Roti Chanai
Sourced from LensaMalaysia.
This morning, we were about to have breakfast and I asked my wife what she wanted. 'Roti Chanai', she replied.
"I love roti chanai," my daughter added.
It used to be on my regular breakfast menu along with a nice glass of 'teh tarik'. Now I don't remember the last time I had one and just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
It seems like we are all having a craving for roti chanai on Christmas day.
Now, where can I get roti chanai in Coventry?
For those who don't know, check out the Wikipedia page.
