Thinking about zombies

Yesterday, I was finally able to catch the final episode of this season's The walking dead, one of my favourite TV shows.
I am not sure whether other people have thought about this as O know most watch it got entertainment, however I was thinking of the science. The only way to kill the zombies or walkers is to destroy the brain. Even though the show is now supposedly several years after the zombie apocalypse, there are thousands of zombies walking around. They are supposed to be dead and as we all know dead people will start decomposing, including their brains. The fact that they can walk and even tear apart stuff means that their brains are still alive, blood is still flowing and muscles are still functional, and can still bite. This is not really believable as the brain is among the first organs to decompose. If a few years, that is fine. However, to see so many zombies decades later is simply not possible.
In some episodes we can see zombies without the body and only the head hissing and moving the mouth.
The explanation may be that the zombie apocalypse was caused by super microbes which take over the dead body and specifically the brain and keep it alive. Or alternatively a more credible explanation from a scientific point of view, may be nanobots released into the atmosphere which are now in the bodies of all human beings and which are activated once the body dies and they take over.
I know this has been a slightly morbid post. However, I would love to hear your theories of you are a fan of zombie movies and still reading my blog.

Aurora

Ant-Man

Fanstastic Four

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

And of course:

Star Wars: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens

This is the movie I have to watch on the big screen when it comes out.

Swimming with the Dolphins

Would you like to swim with dolphins? That's one of my dreams that remains unfulfilled. Talking about dolphins, there is one movie I am looking forward to - "Eye Of The Dolphin", which opens in cinemas today. This family movie is written by three time Emmy winner, Wendell Morris from a story by the film's director Michael Sellers.

Filmed in beautiful locations in the Bahamas, Carly Schroeder plays 15 year old Alyssa, who has just lost her mother and is forced to live with her dad (played by Adrian Dunbar), after being expelled from her school. Her life suddenly changes after she forms an unexpected friendship with an orphaned wild dolphin.

You can also win free movie tickets by entering the contest on their site (before August 26).

The bugs are coming

I am looking forward to a new horror movie from Lionsgate Films, the same people who brought you "The Exorcist". Starring Ashley Judd, Harry Connick Jr and Michael Shannon, the film is directed by William Friedkin. It will be released on 25th of May this year.

Check out the two promotional posters for the bug movie. I really like the way two images are superimposed on each other. Gives a sense of mystery.

The tag line says: " First they send in their drone.....Then they find their queen"

Am really excited to see this movie due to the fact that it has received great reviews when it premiered in France at the Cannes Film Festival in May last year. It won the FIPRESCI Prize there.

Another indication that this is a great movie is the fact that reviewers have given the movie an average score of 7.6 out of 10 on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com) when I last checked.

One critic calls it
one of most disturbing horror movies imaginable

All of this has made me really curious. Hope it lives up to my expectations. Is it about a girl who turns to bugs or bugs after a girl? Maybe it has simply nothing to do with bugs at all. So what do you think this bug movie is about?

Check out the movie trailer below and tell me what you think.

Guess we will have to wait and see in order to find out.

Ghost Rider a box office hit

One movie I am looking forward to is Ghost Rider, starring Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes as his love interest.

Though it has opened in other cities, it will only be released in the UK on the 2nd of March.

This is another movie version of a character from the Marvel comics universe. I guess the only unique thing about this movie is that it features an supernatural anti-hero, "Johnny Blaze", Satan's Bounty Hunter.

Despite reviews ranging from lukewarm to downright put downs, the movie is doing quite well with it leading the box office for the 2nd week and grossing $40.1 million in the foreign market. Read the Reuters report here.

You might also want to check out Wikipedia, which has an in-depth article on the Ghost Rider.

Has anyone seen the movie yet?

What's the Ultimate Gift

Life is how you live it ...
not how you spend it.
That is the message behind the new movie, "The Ultimate Gift" which will be released on March 9.

Starring Academy Award nominee and “Little Miss Sunshine” star Abigail Breslin, James Garner, Ali Hillis, Drew Fuller and Brian Dennehy, this movie is based on the book of the same name by Jim Stovall, which has so far sold 4 million copies.

This is not your typical popcorn movie but rather a values-oriented, heartfelt one with a social message. It is based on the message that "The only way you can truly get more out of life for yourself is to give part of yourself away.”

I was amazed to learn that the movie has made such an impact even before it's official release, with over $5 million in donations to charity. Schools are already incorporating the message into their curriculum and has even resulted in a unique teen charity initiative called “Show Of Hands".

I have already read the book and I can truly tell you that it really made quite an impact on me. Just can't wait to see the movie version. You can view a short teaser clip of the movie on youTube here.

This is the official site of the movie "The Ultimate Gift" and the grass-roots movement its starting to help charities and give to others.

Indian video site

With the popularity of YouTube and other video sharing sites, I guess it was just a matter of time before special video sites targeted to specific demographic segments appeared on the net.

Aapkavideo.com is an Indian Video Sharing. The name in Hindi means "your video" and the site is specifically targeted to Indians. However, with the popularity of Hindi (Bollywood) movies growing everywhere, I am sure there will be a lot of visitors from everywhere around the World including Malaysia. I know of a few Malay friends who are addicted to Hindi movies even through they can't understand a word.

9 11 Conspiracy theories

I have never believed in all the 9/11 conspiracy theories. You can read a good review of the various theories in Wikipedia.

Recently got to watch a provocative documentary called "911 In Plane Site" on the Static brain blog. I must admit that after watching the movie, I had some doubts about official accounts of the tragedy in New York for the first time.

Anyway, Popular Mechanics published by Hearst Communications, refutes these theories on their site.

So do you think the 9/11 attacks were a conspiracy?

Fahrenheit 9/11

Got my hands on a pirated copy of Fahrenheit 9/11 courtesy of a friend. I thought it would be a boring documentary but was at the same time wondering what all the hoo haa was about. I have to say, I really enjoyed the documentary. Watching it made me laugh, anxious and sad. I am not really sure whether everything presented in the documentary is a fact but Michael Moore is really convincing.

It shows the White House led by George Bush, manipulating and misleading the entire American public. Besides this, the documentary is not kind on the Saudi government. May be the reason that it not being shown on Malaysian theatres. The Iraq conflict is depicted from both angles and has some very graphic scenes. Definitely not for the weak hearted.

Not one to just believe a one sided viewpoint, did some searching on the interent and came across this site - Unfairenheit 9/11, The lies of Michael Moore by Christopher Hitchens and Fifty-nine Deceits in Fahrenheit 9/11 by Dave Kopel

However, Michael Moore has provided answers to the questions raised in his own web site at Factual Back-Up For Fahrenheit 9/11

Watch it an tell me what you think.
