Car serviced..... FINALLY!

Woke up early in the morning and sent my car for servicing. I had to leave it at the workshop on Stony Stanton road, for a few hours and I didn't know what to do or where to go. Read my post here.

Fortunately, I suddenly remembered that Malaysians usually had a gathering every Saturday, at the MRC nearby. While I was walking over there, I called up En. Wahab my good friend to see whether he was coming today. He was but found out, unfortunately that the gathering was an hour later.

So got back to the workshop and was able to chat a bit with the owner. I passed away the time reading the car service manual and I actually learnt a lot about the car.

Later went to the MRC around 10am and the families started arriving soon after. The Malaysian community in Coventry is quite close knit and it was nice meeting up with them - listening to what they were up to and to their experiences here in the UK.

Later went to En. Wahab's house to pass the time while my car was being serviced. Chatted about life in Malaysia and my previous job. Quite interesting.

Finally got back my car around 3pm.

Thanks Wahab for all the help. I won't forget it.

College classifieds

The story of how Walamu.com- The World's Largest College Classifieds Network came into existence, is really interesting.

Unlike some people who are lucky enough to have rich parents or Governments sponsoring their studies, many others have to fund themselves by working or fighting for scholarships.

This blog post here that tells the story of how a homeless student living at the University library had a brilliant idea to create a site which would enable students to save on textbook. This site will allows students to buy and sell books with others on their campus. The major advantage is that the shipping/ delivery costs are not involved.

Reading the post actually reminds me of my own university undergraduate days when I would spend hours in the library photocopying and making my own notes because I couldn't afford to buy books. Wish we had such a system then.

On the Amzon.co.uk site:

In case you didn't know, Verizon Wireless is a joint venture between Verizon Communications and Vodafone and has it's headquartersin Basking Ridge, N.J. It has received some of the best customer reviews according to studies by J.D. Power and Associates and others.

However this post is not about Verizon Wireless. Rather it is about Wirefly. Owned and operated by InPhonic Inc, Wirefly.com is one of the most popular online retailers of cell phones and wireless service plans in the US.

You might be wondering about the relation between Verizon Wireless and Wirefly. I am coming there.

If you are looking for Verizon cell phone or plan, look no further. Wirefly is the #1 seller of Verizon Wireless cell phones and plans.

Check out the above link for exclusive online deals on new Verizon Wireless phones. With a new Verizon Wireless account, you can get great phones like the Motorola v325i, KRZR, LG Chocolate and others for FREE.

Note that you have to enter your zip code below the phone models for more details.

Besides the above, the websites provide the top 10 Top Ten Verizon Phones. They are as listed below:
1. LG White Chocolate
2. LG VX8300
3. Nokia 6256i
4. Motorola Q
5. LG VX5300
6. Nokia 6215i
7. LG Mint Chocolate
8. LG VX3300

Invitation accepted

I was finally invited into the new version of Blogger and of course I accepted.

The migration was quite easy and I had no problems at all. My layout looks OK and all the Widgits are working.

At first, I thought there was something wrong with the Performancing BlogRank Widgit. It showed that my rank is 0. Went over to the Performancing website and as I had suspected, they have closed their Metrics service. I had read the news sometime back that they were going open source. Fortunately, I am using three other free blog stat tools.

Excuse me while I go and check out the features on the new Blogger.

New gadgets and consumer electronics site

I love reading about new electronic products and hi-tech stuff even if I can't afford to buy any of them. While searching for cell phone reviews, I came across this great new site.

Testfreaks.com is still under development and will be launched in spring 2007. They plan to bring you reviews of the hottest gadgets and consumer electronics from around the world. These will include professional sources as well as consumers and bloggers like me.

In the meantime, you can go and check out their blog and buying guides for digital cameras, tvs and cell phones.

Noticed a great offer on the site. Help them collect the best sources for reviews and they will be giving out $100 every month. Check out the site for more details.

Lousy pizza service

Last evening both my wife and I were feeling too lazy to cook and decided to order pizza. So I ordered Meal Deal 3 from our favourite (not any more) pizza place - Caspian Pizza at 112 Fargosford Street, Coventry.

My wife likes their Doner Kebab and I, their vegetarian hot pizza.

The delivery guy arrived after about half an hour and my wife paid the money £9.90. The deal comprises of 1 Doner kebab, 1 regular pizza, 1 garlic pizza bread with cheese, 1 large fries and a 1.5L bottle of Coke. However, in this case, the bottle of Coke was missing. The delivery guy feigned ignorance and went off after taking the money.

Called up the shop and they informed me that they would have the bottle to us ASAP...

We are still waiting.

My wife complained that the pita bread that comes with the kebab was like plastics. No quality control at all.

They have lost a good customer. Never going to order anything from Caspian pizza any more.
