Lake District August 2012

We recently visited the Lake district, a well deserved vacation and the first in the last 2 years. The last real vacation we had was our visit to Edinburgh in 2009.

Here are some pics from our trip:

The trip from our house to the hotel near Kendal took nearly 4 hours. After we had checked into the hotel we rested for a while and then drove down to Windmere, England's largest lake which is ten and a half miles long and 219 feet at the deepest part. We took the Blue cruise (also called the Island cruise).

It was a bit cloudy with light rain with intermittent dry spells but we enjoyed it all the same.

At Greenwich park Christmas Eve 2012

We were at my sis-in-law's place in Greenwich this Christmas. On Christmas Eve, it was a chilly and cloudy but we were bored cooped up inside the house and decided to visit Greenwich Park.

Trip to Ayr

Last week we drove up to Ayr, in Scotland. We went along with another family. We started off around 11 from our house in Coventry and then went to Derby to pick up our friends. The whole journey took us about 7 hours from Derby to reach Travelodge Ayr - our accommodation at Ayr.

We didn't exactly go there for a holiday - we were there to get our son's eyes examined by Ian Jordan who has an optical practice. However, still get the chance to go down to the beautiful beach and the kids really enjoyed themselves. Wish we had more time to roam around this ancient town.

Classic Motorbikes

The Academy of Marketing conference 2010 had it's final dinner at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull. This was my first trip to this museum.

They have an amazing collection of classic motorbikes from different eras.

There were Triumphs, Nortons, Zeniths...

Wonder where all these British companies have gone.

my son the photographer

My son loves taking pictures but with my supervision all the time because I was quite scared that he would damage the camera or something. However, I realised that I was telling him what to shoot and thought that it would be a good idea to let him take pictures of whatever he fancied. So I just gave him my digital camera and let him go.

I forgot all about it until I discovered the camera on the floor where he had discarded it - after he lost interest. It was in great shape and the lens was not even smudged.

I looked at the pictures that he had taken all around the house. Most of the pics were of himself - probably enjoying the flash. Some were of his mum and rest of things I would have never thought interesting topics - like coats hanging, behind the radiator, table legs and so on.

Here are some of the pics that came out clearly:
