Thang Ta is a little known martial arts practised in the north-eastern Indian state of Manipur. The art went underground after the state (then a country) came under the British rule. However, it survived and has seen a resurgence.
Some of my friends found it similar to Silat - the Malay / Indonesian martial art.

I guess it can be considered a traditional sport but only trained people with years of experience can do the kind of stuff shown on the clip.
I was in India for some personal reason and i visited a lot of area. but i was not aware about this martial arts. if i was aware i must visited that place. nice video clip

wow! that's interesting. i've never done martial arts (because my mom didn't allow me when i was younger), but i've always been interested in them. i have some friends and cousins who are silat practitioners.
