Calpol or Panadol?

What do you take when you have a headache?

In Malaysia, the drug of choice would be a Panadol tablet (or two). In the US, it would be Tylenol and Crocin in India. In the UK, if your kid is running a fever or just had a jab, the nurse would most probably recommend Calpol. (Andrew: probably the reason why you haven't heard of it)

It's quite funny but they are all common brand names for Paracetamol (known as acetaminophen in the US), the most common analgesic and antipyretic drug in the World.

One interesting info for cat owners is that Paracetamol is extremely toxic to the cats and should not be given to them under any circumstances.

Read more about this drug on the Wikipedia site.

Hmm..didn't know they call it Calpol here in the UK. (in fact, I never heard of it before this) Normally, what I heard was just paracetamol. And I normally buy boots brand or supermarket branded paracetamol. LoL!

Calpol is a brand name for kids paracetamol suspension. There's a new product under calpol brand called calprofen; a combination of paracetamol and ibuprofen. The most effective way to bring down temperature in kids is paralink and it lasts longer. I usually use paralink at bedtime when they're sick coz they would have better rest.

Andrew: No wonder you haven't heard of Calpol. It's a brand for kids. I guess my post was a bit confusing. Edited it later.

K.D.: Thanks for the info.

I guess that's the reason then... Haha! My friend got sick and he gave a call to the student health service or NHS direct or something like that....they just ask him to take paracetamol...
